What sad news.He was an excellent footballer and attained legendary status at Man C.
Bell was affectionately known as 'Nijinsky'.

My thoughts go out to all his family and friends RIP.

One of my first stickers in my Panini 1978 album. Got a few of him, and swapped 'doubles' for Mickey Droy and another for Martin Buchan.

I disengage, I turn the page.

I lived in Manchester for a while in 1970, and went to Maine Road a few times.

While Colin was a fantastic player, the team as a unit were just scintillating - I have never seen better football since.

In the spring of that year, I went to a European cup match to see them play Academica Coimbra. The Portuguese team kit was all black, and because of that the ref played in a white shirt; the first time ever a ref played in a 'coloured' shirt.

50 years later, and I still think about those days as the most memorable football I have experienced, and I probably will until my dying day.

I love youtubing the Manchester derbies from that era - Best, Law and Charlton v Bell, Summerby and Lee - the golden age of Manchester derbies, the recent ones do not compare.
