One of my first stickers in my Panini 1978 album. Got a few of him, and swapped 'doubles' for Mickey Droy and another for Martin Buchan.
I disengage, I turn the page. |

I lived in Manchester for a while in 1970, and went to Maine Road a few times. While Colin was a fantastic player, the team as a unit were just scintillating - I have never seen better football since. In the spring of that year, I went to a European cup match to see them play Academica Coimbra. The Portuguese team kit was all black, and because of that the ref played in a white shirt; the first time ever a ref played in a 'coloured' shirt. 50 years later, and I still think about those days as the most memorable football I have experienced, and I probably will until my dying day.

I love youtubing the Manchester derbies from that era - Best, Law and Charlton v Bell, Summerby and Lee - the golden age of Manchester derbies, the recent ones do not compare.
