I didn’t see the game but they got a penalty and by some accounts could have had a man sent off late in the game ..

Maybe just sour grapes because they lost to Burnley who have a certain style some might not like ?

Seems to me he is saying both sets of players as usual wanted to get their own way and his mob didn’t..

I didn't hear him being so critical when Netto took that shameless dive against Chelsea!

I don't know why, when pens get overturned by VAR cos of it being a dive, they don't get booked for cheating.

Tbf despite our high position this last one was actually quite unpopular as we were very negative and dull only scoring 4 goals away from home.

Mind you not sure the new appointment will make much difference..

Seems to be a case of player power really and bad recruiting .

The refs aren't foreign though are they.....

And while you may have a point about diving having been introduced from foreign sources you'd have to admit that the `Brits have quickly caught up.... Owen, Ashley Young, Kane, Vardy, Snodgrass, Fraser, Connoly have perfected the act and I am convinced some of them actively practice dives......

Snodgrass is the most despicable cheat ever as Dann wasn’t even within a foot of him when he took the dive! And then had the bare faced cheek to celebrate scoring the penalty! Absolute scum.

Another one to add to the list is Grealish. Talented player as he is, he is the worst advocate of knocking the ball past the opposition player and then just throwing his leg out, in the most unnatural fashion, in order to wrap it round the defender and make out he’s been brought down. What makes it even more obvious is he doesn’t do it elsewhere on the pitch but tries it on virtually every time he’s in the box.

That's what really irks me, especially since VAR has come in you hear pundits backing "the rules" with comments like "it didn't look like it at first but in the replay the rules say it's a yellow/red for that foul" but the rules also dictate that if you dive you get a yellow. I don't recall this ever being enforced since VAR came in... Which is the reason most of us were open to it in the first place!

I did see the game and while I rate Nuno Esoprito Santo as a manager this is completely unacceptable.
Diving and cheating and players deliberately falling over to "win" a foul; the searching for penalties, players trailing their legs and deliberately falling over, for me has come to the stage where it completely spoils the game. Where there are a lot of players doing it, the Spanish and Portugese has long made it into an art. Did you see the way Neto tried cheating the ref for a penalty v Chelsea? Within 20 minutes yesterday Otasowie falls deliberately 3 times after no/fair contact trying to buy a foul. Are you surprised he them may not get a decision when there is a real foul? I am totally lost why the diving and cheating does not get called upon by pundits either. Neto man of the match v Chelsea? Why not call him out, I would love to see red cards and retrospective bans for dives. Yet not even yellow's are given and the contact pens are given for is a true joke.

Completely correct. It's got to the stage where you hardly ever see a player have a go at an opponent for diving, and this can only be because all the players know they will be at it themselves soon enough.

As for why pundits and commentators don't call it out, I think it's for two main reasons. Firstly, they are mostly recent ex-pros who would do whatever they could to win and so don't really see the problem, and secondly none of the commercial broadcasters will do or say anything negative about their precious 'product'.

They all call it good gamesmanship and part of the.

Grealish tried to do it the other night v Chelsea but actually ended up fouling the Chelsea defender which was missed by VAR:

Don't they talk/play with foreign players ? And to be honest, despite the 'professional' referees, I don't see any discernible improvement in refereeing nowadays.

They do, in fact it's been ingrained in kids from early on for years now (1m 20s)... [Link]
