Good afternoon I agree with what you are saying but what I tried to convey was, the possibility of refs putting players of teams, playing against the “big”teams, in the sin bin to give them a numerical advantage during the game. Hope this makes sense! It does, well to me anyway. IF, & its a mahoosive 'if' FIFA/IBAF, allow the introduction of sin bins ala rugby union, i think we will find out VERY soon bias in favour of the 'big6' ie, for every 1 of their players 2/3 of others per match will be in there, more money for the FA tho.
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

Perhaps it should be, the extra 2 subs have to be homegrown youngsters. That will teach them

The EPL/FA & 'stakeholders' had a meeting today & yet again voted against 5 subs, gonna get fiesty methinks.

Or they could be made to kneel for five minutes on the sideline. Seem to like doing that

I think sin bins more for me with reds only for malicious/dangerous fouls or play. 10 minutes sin bin for first offence, 20 minutes for second. It would change the game in that players would be far more careful with challenges and could hopefully remove the cynical foul which is one of Man City’s and Liverpool’s biggest weapons when playing counter attacking teams. I think Allardyce argued in favour of sin bins. I'd quite like them too, but with all the issues in implementing VAR it's probably not worth the hassle. When they introduced them in rugby union in the 90's there wasn't an established yellow card red card system. Also, the nature of the game was different, with a single line defence and a wide area to score in rather than a layered defence with a small goal to score in. This makes it far more likely that a tactical infringement (ie going in off your feet or holding on) could prevent or reduce the number of points scored in an attack. Therefore, a greater punishment than a warning is required, but a the infringements (minor cheating) doesn't warrant a red. As a sin-bin is a greater punishment that a yellow the entire rule book may need to be reconsidered. Which would be a nightmare for consistency. What I would like to see in is a rule from rugby where you could punish the team for persistent rotational fouling. If two players hack the same player, then the 3rd gets a yellow.

What I would like to see is some way of removing the incentive for a cynical foul that either allows a team to regroup when caught exposed or hauls down an opponent who is about to create danger. The idea that someone can "take one for the team" needs to be removed. It was openly talked about yesterday by Wilder and some of the Sheff United players as something they failed to do. Get rid and the quality of football must improve. 20 min sin bins would work. Straight reds even better. A yellow is no deterrent when the duty is rotated. How about a yellow for the first offence but if a second happens by another player then the player committing the first then gets his ungraded to a red and the player committing the second a yellow. A third means he then goes. That would stop it. Thoughts?
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

I understand your sentiments but I can never see a straight red being given, sin bin is probably the answer but as I have said previously it would have to used consistently, which I am doubtful would happen.
