Fair enough. Most of the proper socialist I know are teacher (not economics teachers obviously), I was pretty pleased they got nothing. Being less controversial, I think its going to be difficult for anyone to get a pay rise this year. With all the civil servants that have been furloughed, or are working from home and saving fortunes in travel its likely to be difficult to ask for more money. With jobs where people have to go in, such as Boarder Force, people may argue that the airports have been empty all year. Its a hard sell to get more money unfortunately. Hopefully Brexit will help boost demand and wages for her job. The perception is airports have been empty. They most certainly have been a lot quieter, not empty. Staff at airports are deployed to seaports to examine cargo, look for clandestines. Don’t forget the air passengers that require further examination.

I dont think anyone in the private sector is expecting a pay rise this year either.

At least they have a job, hundreds of thousands in the private sector have lost theirs in the last 3 months. In the circumstances I think no pay rise but keep your job is a pretty good deal at the moment.

Maybe this was his share of the Brexit bonus we are all going to be getting come 1st January. I am still waiting for them to announce the amount. Wonder if we will all get a cheque or will it be a BACS payment. We can reap the benefits of the marvelous exit deal Boris has negotiated. I never thought he would get us exit in a Somalia style deal! Amazing!
