You could suggest they just fix the original lift as the gear is in place already on the roof, when i had a problem in my flat with the management company we formed a residents association, when they found out about this they melted on the spot, and the new windows we were having to purchase at about 3 grand each were suddenly ok for a few more years!

I was thinking the same thing, if they work on the original lift it will be out of action for the duration so maybe that is why they want to use the second shaft. I suggest you have a word with the other tenants you think might be impacted.

Thats correct .The idea is to keep original lift working as its becoming more expensive and hard to insure .So intention is to build new one in adjoining vacant shift. So they have options .Dont think they have mechanisms on roof yet as lift will take 6 months to build apparently.
