Dead Sad news. I know he didn’t enjoy the best of health as a manager but 73 is pretty young. Thoughts are with his family

Such very sad news. Gerald Houllier has had heart problems for many years and the football world will mourn the passing of a great manager.God rest his soul.RIP. My thoughts go out to all his family and friends.

Put together a very decent Liverpool side in the late 90s/early 00s and made them somewhat relevant in an era dominated by United and Arsenal. Shame a glut of average signings (Anthony Le Tallec anyone?) downed him as potentially they could have won a title in that era with good additions.

He sounded like a good fella whenever I saw him on the tv. Lots of his old players saying really good things about him. Helped build up a good Liverpool team when they won the FA, league and UEFA(Europa now) cup in 2001. RIP. Condolences to his friends and family.
