I do actually have some sympathy, the fixture list for the big clubs is quite frankly ridiculous even with a 25 man squad. I know the League Cuo gives an opportunity for fringe players to get some minutes but they should have scrapped it years ago. If the Premier League was to be reduced to 18 teams it would help but do they really want to lose 2 home games?

Didn’t Alex Ferguson complain that other teams “raised their game” against Man Utd?

when Real Madrid tried to rob Ronaldo , Fergie went ''oh boo hoo, these big bully clubs robbing our best talent''

i didnt cry for fergie. No sympathy for a hypocrite. And no comment as to whether he behaves like a psychopath.

Kayla did Anfield & Old Trafford

Of Europe's 5 big leagues only Germany has 18 teams. France, Italy and Spain all have 20 teams like we do. The problem for us in a normal year is all the money-spinning pre-season tours and the retention of the League Cup plus, of course, the significant fixture lists in the European club competitions.

If the European competitions grow even bigger then I see national leagues reduced to 18 and even 16 to accommodate them unless the Champions League actually becomes a European league of super teams in which case who knows how our league structure will look.

Good points from Andros today!
In their game at the weekend they didn't even use their quota of three subs but now they want five?
They only want them to use against the lesser teams - like us - when they can't break them down - they then bring on five top class internationals to give it a better go!
It gives an unfair advantage against the likes of us.
Let them do it in their games against their buddies but only three against the rest of us.
As he says - it has worked fine for years so no need to change.
Me thinks they are looking at the league table and not liking what they are seeing.
They want their cosy club back and will do anything to achieve that result!

I agree, 5 substitutes is HALF of the outfield team. That is just a joke.

The big clubs want to have the choice of 5 subs in a match.
On Sunday's game between Man C and Liverpool out of a possible 6 subs between the teams only 3 were used.
This season Man C have only used 14 out of a possible 21 subs in their PL games.

Question. With all the talent coming through at Palace, would five subs help to get young players game time?

With Bellingham likely to get England game time, having five subs - three senior two under 21 could be interesting.

The likes of Man City have £50m+ defenders in their squad who rarely get a game. Their second string 11 would be good enough for a top 6 finish.

Whilst I accept the fixture list is rammed, the big clubs have so much quality in depth and the ability to rotate. More so than the likes of Burnley, who probably only have about 16 players worthy of a Premier League start.

I see no issue with clubs being allowed 5 subs in European matches, but not in the Premier League as it is an advantage to the big clubs who can name 7 world class internationals on the bench.

A better solution would be to scrap international friendlies and the Nations League and only play a set of 3 friendlies before a major tournament
