Germany and Holland kill hundreds of thousands of birds. millions of birds killed in Kazhakstan Scotland killing thousands of birds Avian flu found in Japan The way animals are treated and the conditions they are kept in means they will suffer from disease and sickness. It's just a matter of time before these things happen again.

Now that we have left the EU and the CAP the government should make it clear to farmers that they will only get taxpayers money in return for higher food standards. I have no problem subsidising organic free range birds so people can afford them but we should not be giving taxpayers money to battery hen style operations.

Yep. And there lies the problem. There will always be countries doing as they please. I get that with environmental measures we shouldn't use that as an excuse to do nothing, but in the realm of pandemics, it's such a connected world we will all pay the price for others mistakes.
