I know there’s a lot of tribal nonsense between Hol and the BBS (I don’t get it), but over on the BBS version of Palace nostalgia at the moment, a thread has started celebrating the 30 year anniversary of our most successful league season ever.

As the anniversary of each game arrives, posters reminisce about their memories of the games. I kept a match by match scrap book from that season, saddo that I am, and so I’m documenting each game with the match reports and pictures.

Just thought if any Holers were going back then, they’d find it a fascinating and enjoyable look back at such a memorable time. I’d post it all up here, but uploading all the reports and pics is quite time consuming, so I’ll just leave the link to the thread here.

I hope I haven’t overstepped some Hol/BBS no go area by doing this.

Reading the BBS made me remember the Luton match that started the season, they still had membership and no away supporters an me and my brother had been chucked out the year before we were only 15 and 16. Over the summer I had been over to watch us play Fiorentina and Sampodira and someone told me that all the Palace supporters were meeting in the Lord Nelson's flagship in Luton before the the game. Remember having Lord nelson's flagship written on my passport as I had nothing else to write it down on. I was paranoid I would be stopped by the French passport control on the way home thinking i was taking the pi55. Can't remember much of the match think it was the Lord Nelson that I started drinking before games the rest of the season was a happy blur.

My wife was clearing out a cupboard yesterday and she took great delight in finding some old newspapers with reviews of a Palace game that I'd forgotten I kept. "Can I throw these out?" she asked. "Can you 'eck!" was roughly my response.

Those cuttings were not just about any old game, but the Liverpool semi win that took us to our first Wembley final. It seems that I bought almost every paper on Monday April 9th 1990 to see the various reports just for the glory of it

My favourite headline was in The Sun - PALACE IN WONDERLAND it shouted. Golden Eagles was the Daily Express lead. A quote from Alan Pardew made me chuckle 'It was like a Sunday morning park game' he said.

Anyway, after avidly reading all those match reports again I am now in full, revved-up, semi-final anticipation mode. I have convinced myself that we can beat Chelsea and reach this year's final.

Oh dear, hope I haven't put the mockers on it!
