Hi all,
I need guidance on a problem.
Yesterday we finally had fibre installed to the house after waiting 11 years.
As part of the deal we now have VOIP which means we no longer use the analogue line.
Our old analogue system had main telephone/answer machine in the main socket and three others connected to the main wirelessly by radio.

I believe I can buy an adaptor and connect it to the router and also to the main phone. We can then use the remaining handsets around the house using radio to connect to the main telephone as we did before.

Is this correct ? I don't want to buy an adaptor and get it wrong. There are no experts locally in Cornwall ( circa 1980 ) who I can approach.

Tx.

Old analog phones should plug either directly into the router, or via an adapter, the distribution from the main unit should work as normal after that.

PM me if that is not clear.

Does the new provider not have a decent platform that would allow you use your home VOIP on your mobile and laptops etc. so rather than have a load of analogue phones, you could just have a base phone downstairs and use mobiles instead?

Also, with a decent VOIP platform should have a better answer machine system than your old phone which can then either send voicemail recordings to you via email or even turn voice to text and mail you the answer machine message.

You can buy new home VOIP phones with ATA built into them pretty cheap these days, or just buy an ATA like a Grandstream for about £30.

If you get the ATA, plug the main base unit into it and everything else will work, but I would definitely recommend looking into what features you get with the package you have too.
