Pretty clear he is a goal poacher first and foremost and needs work in his hold up play which, no doubt will be worked on in training. A raw talent at present. Well done JPM for opening your goal account with CPFC especially against that lot!

What's happening with Mateta? Will he just go back to his club or will we be signing him? I doubt it as he never got a achance. Bit of a strange loan signing. Poor lad never got a look in even though he scored against the Weed...

18 month loan so nothing needs to be decided until end of next season. Maybe new manager will see something in him as Roy clearly never fancied him. Against Liverpool it seemed when Ayew lost his head Roy would rather have lost him to a red than replace him with JP

Roy’s contract must be up within a matter of days so there's nothing then stopping the club making moves to install a new manager. Whoever it is needs to start early and sort out the team. I'd imagine Mateta will be part of the forward strategy.

We've had only a brief glimpse of him, which has been odd to say the least, but what we have seen suggests there is a good player in there itching to get out. Never understood why he didn’t get more playing time. Something behind the scenes we were unaware of methinks.

I am sure that Roy had mentioned in one of his press conferences that Benteke offered more from a defensive standpoint. This was before he went on his goal run. I just hope the new manager merits his attacking abilities (seeing he is a forward) rather than his defensive qualities.
