I listened to the Radio Show myself this morning and heard the whole thing.
The Lady discussing it on behalf of the medics may not have been from Bristol but they are saying that using the term "blue" is racist because it doesn't include everyone because Blacks and Asians do not go blue in the same circumstances that white people do.
Therefore to use the term blue is inherently racist by non-inclusion of everyone.
The world is going mad but more importantly (this blue/racist thing will not catch on by the way) who is paying for some of these people to come up with this research when they could be researching something far more important!

Pretty much. I'm pretty sure 99.99999999% of people aren't going to stop saying blue or yellow or ever overthink doing so.

Surely the term 'cold' cannot be used either as people in mid-Africa cannot really become cold.

Similarly occupants of Siberia cannot be asked by their doctor if they are hot.

So sick to death that I’m bored of being sick to death with it. I just switch the tv or radio off if something comes on about it.

Sorry, but you are dead wrong. Language isn't just "what it is".

If you can alter and change the meanings of words, you are controlling the system of communication, and (I believe it has been proven) change the behaviours of those using the language. This isn't just some nuiscance. It is insidious, deliberate and planned. Back in the day, there was a sci-fi book that explored this, but we also see manifestations of it in 1984's "Newspeak", and more recently in China Mieville's Embassytown (despite our uttery orthoganal political views, Mieville is an absolutely fantastic author)

On the point of racism, yes absolutely - white people have no special status that means they alone are racist. To suggest otherwise (or indeed to suggest they cannot themselves be subjected to racism) is in itself racism....
