I have worked with a number of functioning alcoholics and equally those whose lives have been both destroyed by and ended prematurely by drink. Same with drugs both prescription and not.

Seeing someone's life destroyed by addiction is horrible.

For me though the saddest is gambling. That is a slow road to ruin and I have known some who have lost everything. Booze and fags and other drugs will probably one day kill you. Gambling can make you want to kill yourself and damages everyone around you.

My pal had that. 60k he did 2 x 30k loans and credit cards. Off it now but cost him his marriage.

One or the other. Need a hair of the dog mate. Get a krony down ya neck.

I can't even handle the smell of beer right now. I'm too old to drink like a teenager but still give it a go around once a week.

Many years ago where I lived at the time my neighbour was not a nice type of person, aggressive, loud didn’t give a s***e about anybody or anything. Also led a unhealthy lifestyle, over weight heavy smoker too much whisky. Unsurprisingly he had a heart attack doctors told him he had too have a complete lifestyle change otherwise he would probably be dead within the year. His reply was bo11ocks to that and just carried on in the same old way. He lasted just over 3 months, 44 years old, left 3 daughters without their dad, selfish b****** too the end.

You suffer insomnia ?

A quite nightcap, late at night, will appear to help the problem while actually making the problem worse.

Try a month of t-total if you don't believe me.

Agreed. That is how I felt about my friend it's not just your life if you are a father and a husband you have responsibilities to your family to take care of yourself so you can be there for them.
