I think you're right there. Cloned meat will change a lot when it becomes more readily available. Also I think the growth in vegan products available in shops will encourage a change especially as prices reduce.

As for religious groups I'm not particularly religious but know that there are many passages in the Bible that can be used to support either side - eating meat or not.

All religious books have passages in them that highlight the importance of treating animals with respect. Eastern religions probably place more emphasis on these parts but with the changing consciousness of people I think a lot are slowly beginning to chnage their minds on thes issues.

It's a difficult job, though, convincing religious people to stop killing animals as it seems ingrained in religious culture to do so. The passages supporting veganism are often glosssed over and ignored but hopefuly that will change as people's attitudes change.
