I guess You would have been about 3 years above me. I can't say I had a bad time there got some good 'O' levels played a lot of football didn't get a kicking pretty much sums up my school life. Teachers used the slipper and cane on a regular basis, all quite normal stuff for then, if you wanted to learn then you could regardless of where you came from, if you wanted to mess about crack on. Glad to hear you have done well Originally posted by Badger11
Survivor indeed it was the worst school in Bromley and eventually was shut down due to poor grades. When I went it had no proper sixth form and kids did not go to university. Not all the teachers were bad but the culture amongst the kids was not aspirational more laziness and disruptive. Still some of us bucked the trend and emerged with some qualifications despite that. It did teach me one thing self reliance. I realised very early on that no one was going to give me much help in life. It's why I have little time for BLM the opportunities are there you have to want them and that takes hard work. My classmates didn't do much homework I did 2 hours a night and 5 hours at the weekend. My parents never gave me pocket money so I also had a paper round 7 days a week and a Saturday job at Lord John . I was never the brightest but I just worked harder than the other kids. I know what being poor meant so that was my incentive, my mum pushed me all the time "get a job in an office, get a mortgage". Education is the silver bullet, these days certain groups don't want to inspire their kids to great things they want to lower the bar and make it harder for those with white privilege whatever that means. I spent my career in corporate banking most of my work colleagues went to private or grammar school and then Oxbridge. I never resented them it's not their fault they were born into wealth and they still had to work hard to get their degrees and then make a career for themselves. No one said life is fair the best you can hope for is equality of opportunity. Edited by Badger11 (13 Jun 2020 7.05am)

Just shave it off. A pandemic is not the time for a coiffed barnet.

Nothing This. Wild man, or shave it off. Those are the two options. This is a pandemic, not a BBC3 makeover show. Keep your haircuts and your pedicures to yourself.
