I've been told there were spectacular meteorite showers last night and more are expected tonight. I am genuinely put off watching after I saw a re-run of the Day of the Triffids recently on talking Pictures. For those unfamiliar with the story everyone sees shooting stars wakes up blind and then gets taken over by man eating plants.

A better movie version of this story is told in "Night of the Comet" (1984). Just to be clear...the book "The Day of the Triffids" is a classic, but the movie version, albeit entertaining, is far from one. That's all I'm saying. I'm also aware that there have been TV versions of merit. Here ends the disclaimer!

Just watch the more sedate satellites which are passing from West to East at about 9.30 tonight, approximately 60 in a line. Watched similar last night. Rocket carrying them launches at 8.30pm can watch on YouTube.

Just don’t tell me how The Chrysalids ends.
