Yup, it seemed so impossible, so terribly sudden. And so recent. Shame there are no matches so we could celebrate the great man more publicly.

I recall being on the receiving-end of the occasional backlash from staffie over persistent requests, or not being specific about artists and album titles. Never far from my thoughts when on HOL, but that is also due to Mr.A's marvelous continuation of the MP3 thread. staffie never asked for anything, but I know he was exceptionally pleased with the occasional gifts from HOL that was forwarded to him.
I disengage, I turn the page. |

I’ll never forget the day of staffie’s last post. I had no idea how ill he really was and assumed he’d be OK before long, so was quite shocked to learn the following Monday morning what had happened to him that weekend. He and I exchanged a number of messages over the years and I always appreciated his assistance and willingness to go the extra mile on occasion. Though I never knew staffie personally, I soon came to regard him as a very knowledgeable and helpful person with whom I likely shared some common interests, and as someone I may have liked to have known better. I so often looked forward to the megalinks he would post every once in a while, many of which contained a treasure trove of material I didn’t have and may not have even known existed. It’s thanks to staffie that my music collection is what it is today, and I know there are countless others here who can say the same thing. But you don’t get a post about you on the HOL five years on from your passing simply for posting links to streaming sites and music downloads. We may remember staffie for those things, but will also have many more personal memories of our interactions with him as well - no doubt mostly very positive, and almost certainly including his usual smiley face emoji. My best wishes to staffie’s friends and family at this time. We all miss him a great deal.
