The song is religious/hippy twaddle but then most songs are twaddle.

Hey but what about this 1 Hrolf?

Man is the most insane species. He worships an invisible God and destroys a visible Nature. Unaware that this Nature he’s destroying is this God he’s worshipping.

At least it had a memorable tune.

I'm always fascinated as to why people don't see religion for what it is but that is indoctrination for you.

Religion has always had some good tunes but the sentiment is deluded.
I get that your original song is about man taking responsibility for his own actions but 'God' has no place in reason.

Sir Cliff getting greater respect than Scroobius Pip - fair play to ya. Some religious songs are pretty memorable - Jerusalem's a classic. I'm not a fan of religion either just banging religious tunes like this one:

I don't necessarily respect or disrespect people I don't know for their talents or anything else but I do like a good tune.
For me, the problem with popular philosophy is that is usually half baked. When you get older you develop a rather different outlook on life and part of that is to spot the futility of people's ambitions and the naivety many display. Some might call that arrogant, narcissistic or even nihilistic but it is none the less a symptom of age, certainly in my case anyway.

Well out of a top 3 of religious tunes I'd go for this:

Letter from God to man (well it's why I began this thread after all) [Link]

Jerusalem- a stonker

Kum ba yah (classic - especiallly this version - Muffin songs - family sing along)
