Can be frustrating, at least these days we can just keep re-winding stuff again and again till we catch what’s being said, but even then sometimes I just have to give it up and move on.

Get AV amp and multiple speakers. That is what TV sound is mostly designed for now. Alternatively, wire up your hi-fi amp (if you have one) to the Sky box for stereo.

In your settings is their an option called clear speech / clear sound or something like that. It is specifically for better quality speech. Hi yes it has amplify setting voice music and standard also a movie setting flicking between these doesn't seem to make a lot of difference

Thank f*** its everyone else , i thought it was only me, I've been using subtitles for ages , the worse for it is Peakys . I have no problem in the cinema at all , so just TV sound then

It seems that in most modern films and tv dramas the cast talk, or mumble, to each other such that the viewer is almost left trying to overhearing someone else’s conversation. In older productions the cast tended to project towards the audience. Maybe that was less realistic and intermate but at least you could hear and understand what was being said.
