The Premier League should follow the example in Rugby. Saracens are the top club and the richest, they flouted the financial rules, got fined and relegated to the league below. Which will mean their top players will leave.
Unfortunately, money is the god to the Premier league, so nothing will happen to City.

But the Premier League are involved I think - my understanding is that the information requested by UEFA was provided by City via the Premier League. If UEFA are able to prove City have been dishonest in regard to the information provided, the Prem will have been compromised governance wise.

Wonderful news. A rare great day for football. City and Chelsea are the epitome of everything that is wrong with football.

I hope all their big stars leave and they sink back to what they really are, a bottom half Prem/Championship club.

Whilst Iw ouldnt disagree on a british club front...i'd like to 'hope' that the likes of PSG, Barca, Juve and Madrid have equally scrutiny on their accounts...but I somehow doubt it

Barca, Juve and Madrid are super clubs been at the top for decades who have global support and generate mega bucks through sponsorship and merchandising. Man City & Chelsea appeared at the top through nothing more than buying their way there with wealthy owners.

PSG fall into the same bracket at Man City and Chelsea.

In parts you're correct, but then the reason that City have been done is by 'generating' millions n merchandising/sponsorship also. Don't be so naive as to think they're not just as culpable if scrutinised...maybe not to the same degree, but they're ALL at it

Exactly Barcelona and Real Madrid have been getting away with it for years but hey like teach the new boys a lesson.

No sympathy for Man City but it sounds like they are been punished worse then some of the other more establish clubs.

A visit by ETA or the mafia might makes UEFAs
april a bit loose.
I dont think the city massive would garner a similar fear factor.

Relegation to league 2 a la rangers currently discussed.

Difficult not to smile when we have spent years operating within FFP with the inevitable consequence of one crud transfer window after another.

Haven’t Real Madrid received financial support from the Spanish government before? And I wonder how or if Barcelona make so much revenue when they aren’t Spanish so are mostly supported in Catalonia only, don’t have shirt sponsors. Ok they sell a few shirts but it does surprise me how they remain so far ahead of most for so long with squad talent. Maybe being so much bigger than the other dozen Spanish clubs helps maintain their superior ability in a country focused on ball possession.

A relegation to league 2 could mean one less relegation spot from all the other leagues right?

A few clubs in the PL would be praying for that outcome. M

I’d absolutely love it and have everything crossed, City are a cancer and everything wrong with football and their scummy murderous owners deserve it.

Not the same though - as mentioned up thread, here we're talking about sponsorships, materially topped up by the Sheikh, which is against the FFP rules. Exacerbated by the fact that City seem not to have co-operated during the investigation.

It seems to have been a long time coming! What would this mean for Guardiola? He may already have his bicycle clips out and it possibly opens the door for someone new like Pochettino?
