Had to be careful with the wording in the title.

I was looking at a photo of Harvey Weinstein going to court on crutches.
I was minded of a case involving a friend of mine, where her daughter had to give evidence against an older relative. The case went on for several weeks, during which time the accused shuffled into court on crutches.
Sentence was eventually passed and as the elderly relative was led to the cells, the judge reminded him "Sir, you have forgotten your crutches"

As an aside, I hope Barrymore's broken arm leaves him well enough to watch the Stuart Lubbock documentary on Thursday. Best hope Barrymore doesn't need hydrotherapy, because swimming pools must be a painful reminder to him.

I disengage, I turn the page.

Never the wrong time to bring this one out.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

shamelessly bumping my own thread.

Have an uncle who was a bit too touchy around young females 20 years ago. Soon afterwards, the uncle got very bad arthritis and stays at home a lot.
Apparently it's not very safe for him to go outside

Barrymore chose not to co-operate with the police investigation that is his right and it is the right of the paying public so say no thanks I don't want to watch you. He gets no sympathy from me for his failed career. I have no idea what happened that night I suspect he does and has chosen not to speak out.

I made a similar comment on another thread about people forgetting who the victims are.

It’s a tried and tested method that works like a charm

It diverts attention away from the real victims.

Anyone talking about poor people who got stabbed whilst trying to do their shopping on Saturday? Nope... because people are having a debate about religion instead. Complete diverting the topic away from the conversation that we don’t send lunatics to prison for long enough.

Blame the Owen Jones’s of this world. When the brave are confronting these people he’s decorating his legs and floor with piss and s***. Spineless little gimp.

There is also the consideration that long enough can be usefully coupled with far enough away. I have heard that Spain sends its mainland terrorists to the Canary Islands. Distance was used in the past with people being sent to Dartmoor (miles from anywhere). The bonus of using Scottish Islands is that Nicola Sturgeon's aim of joining the EU might be delayed, if not stopped - by that demographic.

I haven't seen this program but no doubt the BBC is giving this woman a sympathetic hearing.

After all it's not her fault blame Universal Credit.
