Getting Tosun was already more than I ever expected we would get. He's similar impact to getting Bats last year. Our relatively lucky point total so far will make it less likely that we bring in any more reinforcements unless they are dirt cheap. I'm sure the club is thinking we can scrape by with the current squad this season. Next year, I assume Wilf is gone, we may have new owners, and it will be a miracle if we can replace Wilf with enough new talent to survive in 20-21. But in terms of this window, I think we are all done unless something ridiculous falls into our laps. And maybe that's ok. We aren't a big money club, we can't spend big in every transfer window. We sold AWB and didn't receive all of the money but I believe we took out a loan to cover that so that we could buy in this window. I have no doubt - I certainly hope anyway - that we are trying to do something but I fail to believe that it is as difficult as we seem to make it look. We need a young right back for now and the future so if Walker Peters is the right man just flipping well shell out and take him. If he isn't then walk away and find someone else because all we seem to do is dither. If Tosun end up being the sole signing then we really are pretty poor and we will struggle this season let alone next. I am not saying we should overpay for someone but it always appears as if we are arguing about the pennies when in essence they just don't matter!

We sold AWB and didn't receive all of the money but I believe we took out a loan to cover that so that we could buy in this window.
I have no doubt - I certainly hope anyway - that we are trying to do something but I fail to believe that it is as difficult as we seem to make it look.
We need a young right back for now and the future so if Walker Peters is the right man just flipping well shell out and take him.

I suspect you're right, but don't forget the need to lay the groundwork for the "despite exhaustive endeavours by the recruitment team, it was extremely disappointing not to get this, that or the other deal(s) over the line" excuse on 1 February. I suspect you're right, but don't forget the need to lay the groundwork for the "despite exhaustive endeavours by the recruitment team, it was extremely disappointing not to get this, that or the other deal(s) over the line" excuse on 1 February.

Our first team when fully fit is strong enough to be mid table. Our current squad is also strong enough to maintain a lower/mid table position. We all accept that our squad is aging and in a perfect world we would like to see more talent being promoted from the academy. So far this window we have brought in two additional youngsters that hopefully, in time, will be able to progress to the first team from the development squad. This seems to be a sensible approach and one which is sustainable. What is unsustainable is bringing players like Benteke and Sahko in on inflated wages. Fairly sure our US owners have instructed SP only to spend very small amounts of money. The only way this is going to change if we can get owners in who wish to invest and take the club forward. I am sure that our current owners have NO idea what potential CPFC has with the correct investment, stadium etc....

Who's to say that we don't suffer another run of injuries in the second half of the season and we've already had to pad out our squad of 25 with extra goalkeepers from the development squad as we didn't have enough first team players to make up the numbers

Perhaps but you can't run a successful Premiership football club with your fingers crossed.

Who's to say that we don't suffer another run of injuries in the second half of the season and we've already had to pad out our squad of 25 with extra goalkeepers from the development squad as we didn't have enough first team players to make up the numbers

They know exactly the potential, you don’t become a billionaire without knowing their investments. The question is whether they think they can get a return on any investment in the stadium and squad. It’s pretty obvious the purchase of expensive high earners is unsustainable, hence the 2 youngsters purchased. I doubt they are going to hang around to see youngsters coming through, but see investment in the Academy as a good selling point.

This is a common theme but I wonder if there would be as much comment about our high wage earners if they were actually performing as they were supposed to be.

Our expensive centre forward has forgotten where the goal is and our expensive central defender only ever plays half a season due to injuries

All points are taken, however, you have to live in the area to really understand the potential CPFC has. You are most certainly correct and these US owners are not fools and want to see a decent return on their investment. But, only IMO they are walking a tightrope by not investing now to secure a longer PL status.

All points are taken, however, you have to live in the area to really understand the potential CPFC has.
