Thanks b.e I think the cheapest is freeview, which if you have a reasonably modern TV will already have freeview built into it. So all you'd need to do is pay your BBC licence. Sports channels? Nothing legal is cheap......But if you have broadband... Regardless, probably the cheapest and legal package I know of is the pay-as-you-go package on Now TV. Edited by Stirlingsays (11 Jan 2020 6.59pm) I would suggest this exercise to anyone who is paying for their TV services. Put a tick against the channels you watch on a regular basis and then see how may of these are Freeview and how many our cable / Sky / premium. As I said in my previous post I pay £20 for BT TV yet when I did this exercise I was surprised to see that I only watch Freeview so come February it's bye bye BT TV.

Whatever the cost of broadband/(TV), remember that a good percentage of your subscription is paying for the relentless transmission of broadband TV adverts. I have NowTV, but find the picture quality bordering on unacceptable. Amazon Prime is far superior in that respect, even though they show fewer matches.

Ditched the TV long ago bweve got an nvidia shield, Netflix (shared with a family member), a free app that gives you freeview channels, Spotify for music and a streaming service for sport. Just pay for broadband myself!
