Very sad, looks like no more survivors.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

Some tourist spots are perhaps worth giving a miss. Still, horrendously unfortunate timing for those caught up in this.

Said on the radio "popular tourist attraction, upto 50 people could be there",

Luckily not that popular.

I feel sorry for the families its the agony of not knowing.

Next year I am off to Indonesia where amongst other things I will visit 2 volcanos then off to Costa Rica and will have a look around their volcano.

It's very difficult to predict when these things are going to blow but then walking around London bridge these days is also fraught with danger.

Let's hope for some good news from NZ.

There are about three ferry's at any one time going in to the island and leaving etc (and helicopters fly in too)...each one carries around 50 people...they were the unfortunate ones on the island at the time....

We're too concerned about your travels now Badger and have decided that you should go to centre parcs instead

I agree on the NZ news front though, not the greatest couple of years for them

If you're looking for Krakatoa it's west of Java and the one in Bali is now a rather excellent golf course.

Was surprised to learn that these tourists knew the volcano was active.

So essentially it's a case of when not if....a disaster waiting to happen. There were children taken on there by tourists.

Seems irresponsible......By all means, go as adults but taking children to an active volcano.....just because the local area sets up a method of making money from it.

I'm just thinking of Naples and the Canaries. Both of which I have been to recently.
