Yes that is an intentional reference to Homer Simpson. Got a good feeling this could divide opinion... Wasn't overly certain VvD deserved it this year and am in a way glad a Liverpool player hasn't won it, but am I the only one who gets the feeling that FIFA are loathed to award the Ballon d'Or to anyobody playing in the Premier League? Might just be me being paranoid and petty but always feel like the worldwide football community is very anti-english. Almost like they gave it to Modric the previous year just to have a break from Messi/Ronaldo and again that would always go to a La Liga player in any circumstance.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

Messi is the best player in the world every year and should win it every year Last year was a World Cup year which is why Modric won it - World Cup finalist and Champions League winner in the same year is some achievement: Varane did win both, but not as influential in either team. Don’t see any conspiracy; how many times do you think a Prem player should’ve won in the last 10 years? I can’t think of many times we could claim to have the best of late.

By my reckoning you could make a case for Messi having won it every year he has been playing. The blokes a freak.

Very true, I can’t think of a premier league player that has deserved it over the past few years. I’d say the closest was Salah in the 17/18 season, he had a good one but was still not as good as Messi or Ronaldo
