Yes, that's right. I believe Bernard Joy won caps for England - both amateur and professional teams. I also seem to recall that CC - back in the day - got their players from universities. Bit like Pegasus who were made up exclusively of ex Oxford and Cambridge University players many of whom were really good. They might even have won the FA Amateur cup at some stage.

Presumably this is how they got their colours?

Sometime in the late 60s, i managed to get a free season ticket from my school, for Sandy Lane to watch T&M. If i recall correctly, on the saturdays that they were playing away the CCs used to play there.

I believe you are spot-on with Corinthian Casuals playing at Sandy Lane in the late 60s.I think they have played their home games on a whole host of grounds over the years.

I remember watching them v one of the Bristol clubs at champion hill. the Bristol club had a knot of gobby fans who sang all game. those supporting the casuals were mostly quiet until one point in the 2nd half when -- as one -- they all sang "the casuals, clap clap clap" very loudly. then they all sat back down again.

there were also a bunch of local herberts, thought by my older brother to be Miiiiiiiiiii , so it kicked off.

in my dodgy memory bank, the Bristol team -- city maybe -- won 1-0 but the casuals fought bravely.

I also feel Andy Gray played in that game and stood out...but my memory is poor.

I was right that Gray played (as did Pardew!) but wrong on the score. It was 0-0 but Brizzle won the replay 4-0.

I would call myself a glory hunter, but in those days my dad banned me from Palace so I spent a lot of time at non-league games.
