If you are suggesting that there is nothing wrong with moving to a seat where you stand a better chance of winning because of your religion does that mean that voters elsewhere are more likely to vote for a candidate that is the same religion or race or colour as themselves? Yes, I’d say so, at least to some extent. What do you think? Edited by the.universal (09 Nov 2019 1.29pm)

Despite what you know who proclaims, voters tend to vote along party lines so the colour or religion of a candidate will be decided by the party themselves

I also think though that people like for vote for people like themselves. You can see that along religious lines (Northern Ireland) and I’d wager ethnic minority candidates are more likely to succeed in constituencies with higher minority populations. Maybe that’s because the political parties in those areas are more representative of local populations, which in a circular way brings out two arguments together.

I just looked it up. It's a safe Tory seat and in 2017 the Lib Dems were 13735 behind. As the sitting MP, I think he would have had a better chance in Streatham. I suspect that Chuka is going to be looking for a new job in January.
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. |

It was a Conservative seat but Labour won it in 1992 and it has been a Labour seat since then.Labour won it comfortably in the last two elections.
