I was lucky enough to go to their game v Freiburg on Saturday.

It was a fantastic experience. Great atmosphere, drinking on the terrace. 2-0 win with a couple of cracking goals.

If you can get tickets -- and it was a real effort to -- I don't think there's a better football/city experience you could have.

It wouldn't take much to bring English football back to life.

Last season I went to watch a Hamburg match in Bundesliga 2. It's incredible what a difference safe standing makes to the atmosphere. That coupled with being allowed to drink in the ground too. Unfortunately we have too many morons in English grounds, so the few would ruin it for the rest by throwing beer at opposition players.

English stadiums are so sterile and dull, the introduction of safe standing will help. We're fortunate to have a group like the HF who recognise how bad its become and are trying to make a difference.

Football in Germany is fantastic.

I believe German football has a reputation for low ticket prices and high attendances.
I read last year that the ticket prices had dropped to the levels of the 2015-16 season.

I think you're right. Heard that a Dortmund season tickets costs around £120. Not sure if that's necessarily a good thing because unless you're a ST holder it would be a nightmare getting tickets as demand would be so high.

didn't some div 2 club recently take 30,000 away fans to a cup game - think it was Dresden at berlin, Europe has its pros and cons, I am sitting on the fence temporarily, but they do tend to be more people oriented - here its more first class second class, public or private and i'm alright jack, went horse racing at Longchamps for the arc trials a few years ago, free entry (wud be £30+ here), a restaurant seat facing the home straight, 200 yards of roses decorating the grandstand, no ex army w*nkers telling you where you can and can't go, no nouveau rich knuckle scrapers, overall a much better experience for the customer, who gets treated with respect.

My grandad went to Dresden.
He recalls it being a bit flat.

A few years back I went to Berlin for a stag do.
On the Saturday most of my mates went to watch Hertha(?) play. I stayed in the bar to watch the first leg of the play-off, us V Bristol city
Anyway, on their return my mates told of being held aside on the street as the home ultras marched by, in obvious neo-nazi style.
During the game there was numerous outbreaks of monkey chanting from the home fans.

Guess there are idiots everywhere.
