And great to see all those marvellous Hy Money photos again. Have them in her book "Hy on Palace", but they gave an extra dimension to this documentary. I too have Hy Money's magnificent book taking pride of place on my bookshelves. Hy kindly signed my copy "to Jamesey" when she was selling copies at Selhurst a few years back now. Some of her anecdotes reveal how tough it was being a female sports photographer when she was in her prime. Unbelievable prejudice and mockery heaped on a brilliant craftswoman.

Anyone know what happened to Big Mal’s fedora? Was it auctioned for charity? What are Jim Cannon and Dave Sw’hurst doing now? They’re not senior citizens yet, are they? Vince Hilaire was terrific. Is he a pundit? If not, he’d be great on the telly. Bill Nighy was slightly flat as a celebrity narrator. I’d have preferred Roy Hudd who would have been more effervescent. Steve Parish was in good form. Perhaps we’ll be the team of the 2020s. I went to Nork Park school in Banstead in the same year as Jim Cannons boy Andy (who hated football and was useless at it ironically!) He was a good mate and Jim ran a successful building company and lived in Hooley in Surrey. Always found him a nice bloke but quite intimidating!! I see Dave Swindlehurst regularly. He lives in Lower Kingswood in Surrey and drinks in the social club I go to a lot. Really nice bloke.

Good documentary. The lead up to the team of the eighties was very well done. Hoswever the fall of that team was quite weakly covered. I know they cant do it for legal reasons but I would have loved them t have at least hinted at the corruption thAt was the real reason the team was broken up. If you don't know, a certain influential Palace figue was the agent of both Samson and Clive Allen. Allen was sold by QPR to Arsenal who sold him straight onto us for the same money as Kenny went to Arsenal. So three fees were earnt by said Palace figure and we lost the best left back in the country to get a fairly average striker. Goodness knows what other shady deals were struck.

Do disagree about Allen though. He was definitely better than average, the trouble was he was average the season we had him. His sporing record throughout his career was top notch. Didn’t he get 49 once in one season? And that was in the top flight!

I wasn't born until 85 but you grow up hearing stories, seeing pictures and video clips of this era - so it's great to see it all put together. Some of the characters and stories around football in those days is pretty incredible. And to have been amongst the 52,000 at Selhurst against Burnley...what a special memory that must be
