What is the point of playing Zaha ?

This obviously isn't the Zaha we all knew before, he doesn't want to play for us that is known, but he is hardly going to put himself in a position where he might get injured and doesn't get his move in Jan.

Maybe if he dropped to the reserves, then he might think twice because top teams aren't going to pay the money for someone who hasn't played for months. it would take him a while to be match fit.

Camarissa must play.

His application on Sunday was shocking but he is still unplayable and a match winner ‘on his day’. We all know he can blow hot and cold even when he’s in the right frame of mind so I would not be opposed to seeing if he can turn it on against Villa.

I too would love to see Camarasa play...and also McCarthy tried out in place of McArthur

I believe we already have an indication of our season ahead.

As soon as the window closed, I commented to my dear wife that this would be a season of struggle with our team not a good watch for us supporters. When we are relying on a strike force which only scored 2 PL goals all last season the writing is on the wall.

McArthur looked ponderous and off the pace against Sheff Utd.McCarthy has only played 7 games in the last 2 seasons !

Macarthy looked good when he came on. At least he looked like he has some fight in him. Bench on Saturday and then start him against villa.

We were pretty terrible until Christmas last season, with the signing of Batshuayi seeing a turnaround in our performances and fortunes. We lost him back to Chelsea and didn't replace him. Quelle surprise we look toothless and dull to watch. Roy does, however, have a fairly good record against teams in and around us, aside from the odd Sheffield Utd type result. I haven't seen much of Villa this season so far, but I think we can at least get a draw, even if it is another unentertaining trawl.

What’s your point though Willo?

I was at the game on Sunday and McCarthy looked very sharp in the pre match warm up and looked good when he came on.

With respect I don't judge players by their efforts in the pre-match warmup.Provides no pointers as to how they will play in the game.

McCarthy has played very little football in the last 2 seasons so perhaps it is asking a great deal for him to slot in and perform with great aplomb immediately.Could take him a few games to fully get up to speed.

‘kin ‘ell, two games into the season and the pant wetters are out in force already.

No it’s not a must win
No Roy shouldn’t change his long held way of playing

Two games in. Seriously, two games.

To be fair to McCarthy he had a double leg fracture, you couldn't expect him to play in plaster, so your stat of games played in the last 2 years is nonsense. He has had a full pre season, so there is no reason to expect he is not ready to go. Roy never throws new players straight in the team, until they trained with the rest of the team, I expect him to start at Utd in a shake up of the team.

I expect us to win - hopefully comfortably, but probably ugly.

Did the Toffees 2-0 at home last night which we failed to do. Expect a tough game as they will be buoyed by this result. Let's hope we can put some kind of performance in today. COYP !!

They looked really good and were well worth the win. I think we'll get chances (if we show any kind of ambition) but they look very fluid going forward. This is going to be harder than I thought. Play like we did against Sheffield Utd and they'll bury us.
