I've noticed lots of Prem clubs are signing young prospects (many foreign) that go straight into their academies. Latest example is young French right-back Yapi who signed for Brighton from PSG. I know Palace have an obsession with 'local lads', but do we sign foreign young players at all? The Brazilian goalie came and went, and Jach was 23 when we signed him, and Sorloth came as a 'senior' player (lol). Our young players did not cover themselves in glory in pre-season. Any insiders with some knowledge of Tavares, Dreher and the others? is there any potential there? Given how narrow-minded the first-team scouting is, I'm not surprised we don't find young players to bring in and develop.

We do find good young players, a lot of them are local. The under 18's walked away with their league last year. But because we are in the money league (i.e. Premier) these players will take longer to come through becauuse its all about staying there in the long term obviously

If prep teams don't or can't give their youth time to develop why don't those teams have affiliations with lower league clubs to give player's back to back 90 mins league football. That would give player's experiences and fast track development.

Anyone with ideas which ones might be brought in to the first team squad this season? Who was the lad who scored a few goals during preseason? Think he’s only 17 and has knocked a few in? Any ideas if we’ve another half decent right back that might be able to cover for Ward?
