It looks very bleak and as a supporter of CPFC for over 40 years the last few weeks have been hard to stomach. I'm afraid we will be flirting with relegation yet again. Should any injuries hit Wilf or Andros we are sunk.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Confident.' by bexleydave With the season almost upon us, I am quietly confident of a strong season for palace. In Guaita we have a superb keeper who is more than capable of being number one for years to come. Defensively, we have Sakho and Tomkins who are arguably one of the best partnerships in the league. Granted, both Ward and PVA have their limitations, however, both established premier league players. Also, the signing of Gary Cahill is a shrewd piece of business. He's as good as any defender we have at the club. With the injury problems of our central defenders he may turn out to be a valuable asset during the upcoming campaign. In midfield, Luka is an outstanding midfielder and complimented by the creativity of Max Meyer and the combative Jimmy Mac and box to box kouyate. With Wilf and Andros we have two of the best wingers in the league and Ayew always puts a shift in when called upon. I may be in the minority here, but i still believe in benteke and think he is still capable of 15 goals a season. With a fully fit Wickham firing on all cylinders we have two players capable of scoring 15 plus goals. Granted, the squad appears thin, however, i firmly believe that SP will bring in re-reinforcements before the deadline, which will further bolster our squad. Due to the disruption of the AFCON to Zaha and Kouyate's involvement in pre-season and injuries to sakho/tomkins and late arrival of cahill it may take a few weeks before we see Roy's best side on the pitch. I for one won't panic if results don't go our way instantly and trust that once we have a fully fit side it is more than capable of a top half finish. Thoughts?

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Confident.' by bexleydave Looking at the early fixtures I would say we will be doing really well if we are not in the relegation zone after 6 games, but expect this site to be in full on meltdown for the time being...

We have plenty of options in midfield now to mix our tactics up, especially with Camarasa who is an exellent attacking midfielder which we are currently lacking. People seem to think that by spending big money then you automatically strenghten your squad. Look at Newcastle for example, they have spent a lot of money on players and most of them will flop and that is the same for most teams. I would rather stick with our same squad rather than 50 million on some unknown from the Belgian league and watch him fail. I agree that we are not progressing at any quick rate but we still have a solid team and a great manager so we won't be getting relegated as there are a handful of worse teams than us. There is obviously a lot going on behind the scenes that we don't know about but times are good and things will improve.

Another tough season with the usual highs and lows. I think we will be ok. Finishing 13th / 14th
