I have a friend who is after booking a season ticket and he’s just turned 60 does anyone know if that would be a full price ticket or an OAP price. Thanks for any help

Full

FFS, OAP at 60? You’re having a laugh.

At the moment it’s 65+ but when he gets there it may have gone up along with pensionable age.

State pension age for someone who has just turned 60 is age 66. There are no plans for that to increase.

I'm also 60, and am gradually discovering various concessions that click in at that age.

At a guess I would say 65 but the pension age has been moving. Mine will be 67

I meant the Palace discount cuts in at 65. But 60 year olds aren’t OAPs.

The Palace concession starts at 65 and is one third off the full price ... same as for youths/ students at the other end of the age spectrum. I'm still hanging in there with two more seasons to go.

Currently, there aren't any plans to up the state pension age to 68 before the mid 2030s but that could change anytime.

I will pass this good news on that he is definitely not an OAP yet

Your original post was perfectly clear to me, on both counts, but thanks for taking the time to post again.

Sorry if a touch pedantic, but the SPA won't change 'anytime' - which makes it sound like it could change at the drop of a hat at the whim of the government. There is a system in place for a 5-yearly analysis of changes in life expectancy and the consequences for the state pension.

I started to get the 60-plus concession a while back and was disappointed for friends when Steve Parish increased it to 65. Still in the light of everything else it was inevitable.

The ending of the free TV licence at 75plus is probably the first of many more nibbles at pensioner perks.

At Kennedy Space Center in Florida, you get a Senior ticket from the age of 55!
