To be honest I would rather a 6 nil drubbing than what happened to us in the final.

Watford could at least walk away saying they were just outclassed by a team of superstars.

What hurt the most was the hope and unbridled joy of being 1-0 up only for Clattenburg and that annoying c-unit Lingard to take it away.

There's some merit in this as the defeat still hits a nerve. So near and yet so far.
Then again, No: 6-0 is an absolute disgrace, at least we had a go. We were up against the ref as well that day. Overall we can hold our heads high, the lads just fell short.

Watford are lucky that the media seem to be w***ing themselves to death over how good city are and overlooking the fact that Watford were shameful. Really, really shameful.

Eh?

Apart from all the bantz with Fergie in the tunnel, the disallowed goal, not sending off another united player and generally just giving united every decision?
We played against 12 men that day.

I struggle to see what harm he could possibly do in the 80 seconds it took them to equalise anyway, although I feel confident that he had his eyes peeled just in case an opportunity to please his master Fergus***e arose.

Have you actually read what JohnB wrote and then what I wrote? He was talking about being 1-0 up only to then have victory taken away by Clattenberg and Lindgard. WTF has the disallowed goal got to do about it?

To be fair to you, JohnB's subsequent post suggests that he's confused too.

All I said was that from the point of being 1-0 up, Clattenberg didn't do anything untoward such that we ended up losing. We fvcked it up ourselves through a combination of preferring to dad-dance rather than re-group, failing to take advantage of an extra man and failing to kick Rooney up in the air a few times.

I agree that Clattenberg is a Man Utd-supporting see you next Tuesday, but was only talking about minutes 79 to 120.

I think you misunderstood the sentiment of my post in that I meant the overall loss of the game was due to Clattenburg and that combined with Lingard being the one to score the winning goal. I never meant we were 1-0 up and then Clattenburg turned the game, he'd been doing that from about an hour before kick off.

I'm saying I'd rather have been thumped 6 nil than have that feeling of my god we are actually going to win this to walking out in disbelief that Clattenburgs performance, Pardew's stupid dance and Lingard scoring the winning goal was how it all ended leaving us with nothing.

Fair do. Thanks for clarifying, but that wasn't actually what you wrote. Anyway let's not fall out and let's agree:

Clattenberg is a "Charlie Hunt".
He was totally biased against us in the 2016 cup final and pretty much every other time we had the misfortune to have him as our referee.
Lindgard is, well...I don't want to get a yellow card for foul and abusive language.

I'd happily take him on a season long loan though

It's strange... Watford, in the media's eyes, apparently had a stellar season in comparison to us. Yet, they finished only 1pt and 1 place above us. Sure, they got to the cup final - and were abysmal - but we got to the quarters. Yes, they had a 'better season' in terms of their placings but not by much at all. Their end of season form was shocking too.

Good post. Well, the media is made up of a load of knobbers. They pick their favourites and that's that. Conversely, they (other than Danny Murphy) decide that we aren't worthy of a good word.
