On the Holmesdale terrace a temulant chap was seen urinating on to the floor as it would have taken a considerable effort and a month of sundays to make it to the toilets.I suspect he was one of quite a few who decided to take this course of action.Just grateful they were not in my vicinity.

Decades ago I read an article by a journalist who had ventured onto the the Liverpool Kop, which in those standing days accommodated 30,000 fans. Right in the crowd, he asked someone about urinating, and was told that people just peed down the trousers of the person in front, and it was known locally as a hot leg. When he asked, Don't people feel it?, his informant just said, You didn't, did you?

What a night that was - 50,000 plus inside Selhurst Park - quite incredible - no "'elf and safety" then thank God!

And the only film of it is a grainy clip that appeared on News at Ten that night, but at least you get the goals.

I don't remember anything about the game but that's nothing unusual for me.

I used to smoke in those days and my only memory of the day was that I was squashed so tightly that I couldn't smoke

I was standing in the Whitehorse. I seem to remember Leighton James missing a good chance just before Palace scored the first goal. Had a good view of both goals

I’ve watched that grainy news clip of the goals on YouTube over the years, but I really can’t remember it happening on the night, maybe because I was in my early teens and I was struggling to see. But I don’t remember any mayhem or limbs or getting squashed or anything when we scored. As I’ve said, all I remember is I kept glancing to my left and being mesmerised by the incredible sea of heads swaying in the Holmesdale and the walk up to the ground before

I was there!! Had to wait outside the ground for big Dave Swindlehurst to get off the coach and give us our tickets. 40 years!! Fook me, where’s my life gone??

I remember this as a young lad standing in the away end in the corner with my grandad and getting pelted with two pence pieces.

I remember a buzz in the Palace crowd at Orient in the minutes before we scored - there seemed to be a confidence that we were going to do it.
I got there at 5.30 for Burnley too. I am impressed that people arriving after 7pm got it - so was no-one shut out of the game?
