Micky Droy is not in a million years the worst defender we’ve ever had, not in my time anyway. I’ll admit he’d probably be made to look a lot worse now if he was playing because as we all know it’s slowly becoming a non contact sport, nimble players get a lot more protection these days,(unless your name’s Wilfried Zaha) Droy was playing in an era when big lumbering centre halves could just kick a striker into submission and get away with it,,,,,,,those were the days

Anybody claimed Gary Stebbing yet? Or Rudi Hedman? I saw Hedman play for Dulwich Hamlet once & he looked below the level.

Brian Bason, Les Strong and Tony Hazell weren’t great IMO. Didn’t think Stebbing was such a bad player but the treatment he got from the crowd was a joke. Rudi Hedman stepped in for the second leg of the play off semi against Swindon in 89 and did alright IIRC but got rinsed in the first leg away to Blackburn and Gary O’ Reilly brought back in for the home game.

Bason, Lacey are the obvious ones that spring to mind. I also thought Matthew Upson was poor when we had him on loan, given his reputation. And the fact we ripped off on his wages by the then Chairman as Arsenal, the Sh*t is now at Spurs.

Ha ha Don’t remember the chant but I do remember the advert E for B and Charlie George. Of course he had his own song about being a superstar, walking like a woman and wearing a bra.
