Ditto!

Not sure quite what people expect from us! I'll take another season like this, and another, and another ... etc

agreed...some people just dont understand how football works.

Couldn't load the link, but in summary of the facts, if it didn't include:

Plan A or bust.
75th minute like for like subs.
Dropped too many points against s*** teams.
Couldn't finish our dinner.
Terrible at home.
Mid-table by default.

Then it's inaccurate.

ive heard it all now.

The pros and cons of Roy and our club are pretty clear. I'd agree with the article's view and the people saying the pessimism is partly due to the home record I can't help but wonder if all that s*** about the hf move at the start I'd the season has soured everything - dunno how the majority of fans see it but while it's not really something I think about, when I do it leaves a bad taste and I just feel that has influenced our hone season. Hopefully onwards and upwards next year.

Think I agree with those that say that if our home form had replicated our away form or switched around then it would be a great season. Staying in this league is paramount getting to see the best teams / players in the world at Selhurst is amazing for this old geezer. Hodgson is a great manager for a team like us and has kept us up again. Just wish as a home fan that some of those results away had been at home? I’m sure we would all be more content with our current position in the league if that had happened? I also feel losing Sakho when we did finished our chances of a Wembley appearance? I read on here that buying him was a desperate measure? For me he is the best central defensive player we have ever had. A semi or cup final appearance plus finishing as a premier team would have been a superb season and we just missed out on this due to losing Sakho when we did in my opinion. Perhaps also losing the way we did to Brighton twice and also Watford didn’t help with our thought process?

I agree with the general thrust of these comments.

This is the situation - Parish couldn't back Roy, as he should have done this summer, to allow him to have two years doing it his way, to fully steady the ship and hand us over a mid table club..

Too many mistakes in the past are still being paid for, literally.

So, whilst Roy is doing a great job considering he is expected to finish 17th with what he has, we are not seeing the best of Roy.

This summer, i really feel we need to give Roy an extension, one year so that summer 2021 is time for a new manager to come in, with a similar vision and ethos to carry on with the club.

Last Jan, Roy was stubborn and was making statements on the pitch with players, showing that we needed signings - he asked and stated we needed up to 7 new bodies in. That never happened, not even close. There are articles out there stating this, any one reading up on us at the time will have seen this.
So, what happens, Parish lays it out to him and a year later, Roy has a different story, playing along with the poor us narrative Parish wants. It's not poor us, it's broke us.

Thing is, i don't think it's fair on Roy as we aren't seeing the best of him, which is why i feel, cash in on AWB, Meyer, spend that cash on 4 players Roy does want, built around Zaha and capable of plan b. Let Roy do his thing and i am confident we reach 40 points quicker next season and quicker again.

Good summary. In 2 seasons Roy has been able to spend just £17.5M, on Kouyate and Sorloth, and allowed to sign Meyer and Guaita on frees. Considering the chronic lack of investment I've no complaint about our relatively safe league position.

What a stupid article (IMHO)

Your opinion differs to mine as I think the aricle's well written and mostly accurate. But it's all about opinions so yours is as worthy as the next person.

As a ST holder and part-time away fan, I travel with my sons from Wiltshire. My average mileage for home wins is 758 per win while away victories average at 157!

I think that what I and most are feeling is a loss of balance. Yes we've won games but few have been scintillating. We've had so many chances to thrash teams at home but never once have; Newcastle, Burnley, Cardiff, Fulham, West Ham come to mind. Losses to Southampyon, Wolves and Spurs were avoidable. Most lamentable was at home to Chelsea when we didn't get out of first gear.
We have tried at home but clearly are only really capable of smash and grabs which is why we excelled at City, Leicester and Burnley. We ground out wins at Huddersfield, Newcastle and at Wolves we were the better of two poor teams.

Ultimately, as passionate and humble fans, I think we all just hope/expect to win some blue riband matches: Any of the top six plus Brighton and a significant cup result. Barring the City away game, there has not been another banner moment this season and ultimately we feel flat.

I'm certain it's not arrogance from us fans. The 'careful what you wish for' brigade miss the point. Everyone knows these are heady days when compared to our history but reality stems from where you are not where you could be, be that better or worse.

So here's to seeing a banner win or two in the final few games, a stable summer of shrewd transfer business and some good news on the Main Stand development.
