It's an odd thing, but you started a post about hate - and in particular hate of Brighton. No-one in any of their responses commented anything homophobic or mentioned homophobia, until you brought it up in your second post on the thread. ...and you're the one going on about getting rid of homophobic comments? Yea right! I didn't start the thread (if that's what you are referring to?) I think it's clear that "hate" means different things to different people. If it's banter, that doesn't cause genuine pain, that doesn't cause people to be intimidated out of coming to the games, to joining youth teams, to becoming professional players....I'm totally on board with that, no problem. But we've seen it before in decades past...and sadly we're seeing it again, with the recent racist treatment of Raheem Stirling and others. I especially don't want a return to the dark days of violence, unfortunately we've started to see a trickle of incidents. That's why "hate" makes me wary. But even without actual violence, just google "Palace Brighton homophobia"...and there's way too many recent hits. Stirlingsays considers that to be censorship, or StasiVille. For the record Stirlingsays, comedians don't get a pass either. Check out this interview with Ricky Gervais. Gervais is absolute advocate that no subject should be off-topic for humour. But he also understands that the situation (target, time and place, etc) is critical. [Link]

Jesus what a wet OP that was Viva hate. What football is built upon, what keeps its culture unique. The day it goes is the day we turn into Rugby and we can't have that

To quote him at 9:35 into that video, 'you can tell people I'm an arsehole, good luck to yea, but I'm going to carry on saying what the f**k I want'. I've read you stuff here and I won't be standing with you. I agree that many people say offensive things. However, I'm not willingly to travel down this soviet road and I'm far closer to the US one. A free society has the bar on restricting free speech set as high as it can. If you disagree with an idea, contest it, within an appropriate forum. For example as you have done here. With the changes that you appear to support....well, if some other movement took over that was against your views....they could very well use the very same restrictions to say your views are 'offensive' and their utterance should result in punishment. I wouldn't support that either. Edited by Stirlingsays (09 Mar 2019 6.47am)

No one to blame but ourselves though (I mean the players) Two piss poor performances this season against our rivals... Not good enough.
Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!! |
