You lot all need your heads examining. Seriously, playing Ward ahead of PVA.

There aren’t enough facepalms on the internet to sum up that idea.

I thought exactly the same reading this.. Ward is a back up right back... play him at left back???... Please do me a favour!!

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

Agree. Wardy as L back? No, no, no. Been done before unsuccessfully.

However, PVA is coming unstuck, if he wasn't already.

I've been wondering for a long time why he doesn't close down wide players but allows them to cross at will.

I've even seen him make the odd, back-turning faint, leg-cocking challenge that doesn't belong on a premier quality defender.

Upgrade needed when the opportunity arises imo.

No. It's the fans that are suffering Van Arnholt. Switch Joel Ward there when Wan Bissaka is fit. He played there effectively before.

Not realy. he was never as good at LB as he is at RB, but might be worth trying, it would be hard to be worse than PVA at the moment

I think he is going through a trademark rough patch. maybe a few weeks on the bench and stick Schlupp in there with Mayer into midfield would be the obvious solution.
PVA has many good points, mainly on the attacking front and he has been playing well for the first dozen or so matches. Clearly a confidence player so need to show him the love once in a while. Roy sticking with him is not a bad thing but Sakho not around now to bail him out.
Lets not start to slate PVA, he is an effective player when on his game..

Didn't he do this at Sunderland? started off good, then a long poor patch, and then got back his good form, and then on to Palace

Wardy at left back ahead of PVA is absolute comedy. Need I remind people that exactly one minute after Schlupp went to LB to replace PVA on Wednesday, Ashley Young found 20 yards of space on the wing and scored United's third goal?

Ward is a better defender but he cannot play on the left.

Is he a better defender? I love Wardy and he's been a tremendous servant to the club but has lost pace and now looks weak defensively, can think of a couple of occasions where he has cost us a goal recently. For the first goal on Wednesday he backs off Shaw for 15 yards and shows him inside into the box.

Soure will be back next week! If he can get fit I’d have him ahead of PVA right now.

I am just waiting for someone to suggest Martin Kelly should play there.

Ward was never the quickest player and I believe that way back in the days when he was a regular I expressed incredulity when some were touting him for England.

Ward does a job and uses his experience but clubs must recognise he is a weak link and we need AWB back as soon as possible. He did score against Man Utd so credit to him and let's hope he does well against Burnley.A real gentleman and he has served us well over the years but alas he is being found wanting in the PL at this stage of his career.
