I sort of understand why roy took PVA off and moved schlupp. Pva has been poor lately. You can put up with his poor defending while he gets forward well, but he hasn't been doing that lately either. Petsonally, ic give schlupp a run st full vack snd bring max into midfiekd. What really disturbs me is the way we play so narrow at the back. Attacking full backs havd so much time on the ball, every game it's the same.
I would have loved to have seen him bring on Benteke to play alongside batusuia (excuse spelling).for the last 20 mins or so. He looked pretty isolated for most of the game and we didn't get the ball into the box quick enough for him. Really need to try a different formation when things aren't working.

The substitution occurred after 83 mins. If he felt he was that poor he should not of even started. That sub was totally baffling as we had to rejig at a crucial time when we were chasing an equaliser and looking like we might get one. Also did Roy mistake Lukaku for Tekkers, as he clearly felt he wasn't a threat ? The stats don't lie. Only the 3 bottom teams have scored less goals AWAY than we have scored at HOME !!

Thought the late subs were simply rolling the dice and trying to add a bit of height and physical presence.
Dann should have been chosen ahead of Kelly for similar reasons and probably Kouyate for Schlupp or McArthur.
That said I thought we gave them a game despite missing two of our best players.

Some of the whining is really getting on my tits. United are playing at the top of their game at the moment and still had the likes of Sanchez, Lukaku, Pogba and Rashford at their disposal.

YES I agree.. body language of our players. H says our players were tired but teams like UTD play 2 matches a week!!

Our players looked decidedly resigned to defeat last night. We almost never beat Man U. The last time was in the 90's I think.

Without Wan And Sakho our defense looked ponderous and static. I hope they return soon.
I'm sure we target games for maximum effort so I'm guessing Brighton, Huddersfield and Cardiff will be priority games for 3 points.

We probably need 3 wins or equivalent points from 10 games to be safe.

Well if we play the team that was on the pitch prior to Benteke coming on we will be fine. With Meyer on the pitch, we scored, we played great football and united were on the ropes. Then all that went out the window.

Our supporters have had to endure a dismal home record with only 3 wins in 14 PL games - Only Huddersfield have a worse home record.

One hears pundits etc saying that Selhurst is a "Hard place to go to" etc etc as if it is some sort of 'Fortress Selhurst".The reality is a lot different.Very poor.

All down to Hodgson's submissive defensive tactics - keep shape, cede territory, park the bus. GK, 4 defenders, 3 defensive mids - that's 8 players whose role it is to defend against the opposition AT HOME. No wonder we can't score.

And we end up with our central striker so isolated up front.

Get on that front foot, press the opposition high, put them under pressure and force mistakes, play at a higher tempo and give the long-suffering supporters something to get excited about.Absolute dross at home and given that we are only above Huddersfield in terms of our home record this season, the tactics are NOT working.

Ive now watched the Sky Highlights of the incident. So very briefly with his left arm on the ground, he may have finger touch the ball with his left hand ( the ref could never had seen this), which the keeper was holding with one hand against his leg, when the utd player with his own momentum falls against the keeper. Straight after Ward sees the opportunity, kicks the ball as keeper only has one hand on ball into the net. So is the keeper deemed to have full control of the ball?? or Was Ward denied a second goal to make it 3-2. Im 100% had that been at the Palace end, the Ref would have given goal!!
