I recall the Mike Tyson era of the mid-late 80's. Tyson fought everyone he could. Former champions were coming out of retirement, just for the pay-day.(only the WBC, WBA and IBF belts then)

Too many broadcasters and too many belts and interested parties have made getting fights on far too complicated.

If I were Tyson Fury, I would have seen this coming and taken the 5 fight deal he has done, because it's "cash up front". He pulled the trigger at the right time.

It seems boxing fans are being denied the real deal yet again.

Tyson was such a formidable presence in his hay day. The amount of opponents he just walked through like they were nothing was something to behold. Then the unravelling against Buster Douglas. What a time for boxing.

You're right in that there's a potential spanner in the works now. The belts, the broadcasters, the big money deals that always seem to delay rather than promote fights the fans want. I'm still hopeful but who knows. After well over a decade of technically competent yet boring bouts under the klitschko brothers we deserve another golden era.

Fury and Wilder must be so tempted to 'organize' dramatic, repeat slugfests. Earn hundreds of millions, avoid Joshua.

Probably do 4 before the world gets bored/suspicious.

There is that feel to it isn't there, that a future match up could go either way. Some have said that Fury wasn't fit when they fought, which I don't doubt, but if Wilder connects fully it's lights out whoever he's up against. With exception of Fury's Undertaker act of course .

The different deals they're all signed to could prove problematic. If anything Joshua must be pleased with the a seemingly inevitable Wilder vs Fury fight now looking less likely. He'll be hoping to worm his way into the mix.

I think that was Wilder's view of what was going to happen.

But as we see now Fury's signed a big money multiyear two fight a year deal with Arum's Top Rank Boxing and ESPN....It's expensive at a rumoured 100 million dollars..and that means he's likely to face Arum's fighters to make the money back.....So Parker, Pulev are the major ones....I'm sure he'll be looking at all the slow moving heavyweights so Whyte might also get a call...and Tyson should be able to beat all of them in boring 12 round jab fests.

Maybe he'll fight Wilder but at that 100 million cost I'm sure his backers will be looking to minimise risk to as low as possible.....until Joshua or Wilder.
