I am a lifelong Palace supporter, now living in Ireland. My band, Supernaut, Ireland’s premier tribute to Black Sabbath and Ozzy are coming over to play a private gig in London on 4 May. We are trying to get another gig arranged for 3 or 5 May and would like your help in suggesting venues / promoters I can contact. It's a shame the Greyhound in Croydon is no more, would love to have played there. All suggestions welcome.

There are plenty of venues to try and get booked. Loads of rock pubs, like the Agincourt in Camberley, and The Carlisle in Hastings, also a few places in Reading. No doubt there are plenty of places in London.

you could try googling some venues and ringing them directly, but I don't know how these things work.
Maybe an option to find a Promoter, and best of luck

I'd like to try and find a venue in Croydon or Sutton if possible. All my old haunts have closed down.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

It's odd that all your old haunts have closed down. It's enough to make you paranoid..

I have heard that Fairfield in expecting a Concert to take place in September and Panto will be Cinderella. Perhaps contact there might reveal that they will welcome a test event (before closure there was the Ashcroft Theatre and the Concert Hall. There is the possibility that one will be ready before the other.

Why don't you try the Ship in Croydon high street, they put on bands and it is still a metal/rock pub I'm sure you'd go down well there

The only suitable venue is likely Scream

Not big and a bit of a dump

I loved The Greyhound, probably knew you back in the day. From Queen to Stackridge and back again via Judas Priest.

Along with Palace, The Greyhound represented everything that was good about Croydon.

The bands and artists who played their over the years was like a who's who of the music industry.

Still, The Jam and Bowie aside, my best moment was shagging my mates older sister who I met there when it was the Blue Orchid.

Sorry Rob

The Greyhound was a great place, so many great bands played there. Hawkwind's Space Ritual was the highlight for me.
