I'd love to go. I used to go to the air show when I lived in Kent (as I've posted elsewhere). Loved it.

Also, I've never made it to the Battle of Britain museum at Hawkinge, sadly, but I intend to one day.

I come from Hayes, Bromley and we used to live in a top floor council flat. The one advantage of this was seeing the Biggin Hill planes fly past from our balcony. Believe we also used to see the Farnborough planes too - although my memory may be incorrect as it was decades ago. Airshows banned here by anti war protestors who now let off 99 red balloons each year. Killjoys.

Opens on the 3rd Feb to public. I've seen inside and it looks good. Shame the outer brickwork doesn't fit in with the chapel colours.

I used to work around the airfield, very interesting bunkers for the 1940s pilots to hide in during german raids, when I come down for family gatherings I'm def going to this museum, used to also go every year to the shows standing outside behind the road and behind the runway for the red arrows take off was always a hilarious spectacle!

Is that why Biggin Hill stopped?

I'm talking about where I live now in Ireland. I didn't know Biggin Show had stopped. Largely, it was WWII planes that were the big draw. There would be some German ones but, of course, we all love a Spitfire and a Hurricane.

Will go for sure.

Grew up with my Grandad who passed away 18 months ago aged 97.

As an ex RAF gunner we were allowed to bury his ashes in the small crematorium next to the chapel.

Fantastic place. I think it should be compulsory that all local school children should be shown around and explained it's importance to the defence of the country.

The Airshow is back on and has been for a few years. As for the 99 Red balloons that Nena has a lot to answer for
