It is frustrating that I don't even get the usual satisfaction of being proved right because I so desperately wanted to be proved wrong.

I at least thought one of the two strikers would get the second half but neither even got on! Roy's outdone himself there, drawing a must-win game and leaving 2 strikers on the bench.

Quick chat with 10-year-old spawn.

Me: "You're one-nil up away at Southampton with half an hour left and they keep bringing the ball back from upfield. You have Wickham, Benteke, Meyer, Dann, Kelly and Schlupp on the bench. What do you do?"

Spawn: "Benteke on for Ayew. Meyer for McArthur or Kouyate."

Me: "And?"

Spawn: "Benteke can hold the ball up and send it to the others till we can attack them."

Me:"What about Schlupp?"

Spawn: "Dad, I thought you said we'd brought Sako back?"

Get ready for some hard truth for many here.

That was Jordan Ayew’s best game for us and he put in a very Hodgson like performance.

He chased, he harried, he hassled and he dispossessed their defenders several times. I would suspect he did exactly what the manager asked him to do, and will be rewarded with many more starts, while RH painstakingly nurses Benteke and Wickham back to match fitness.

Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha.

Please someone explain to me the point of Jorden Ayew if we just want someone to run round like a headless chicken play a junior, he could not be much worse. I watched the game on Wednesday and cannot remember a contribution from him, no hold up play, no attempts on goal. Why was he there? and why does Roy insist on playing him?

His contribution to allowing the build up to the Soton goal was rather telling. Hands on hips looking at their defender move forward with the ball. No effort on his part whatsoever. Okay if a striker isn't putting the ball into the net, they can at least put a shift in, in other areas.

OK he did hustle and bustle and did win some balls back , and broke away but was soon caught up before he could see a pass. He did try and I bet he also think, "why did I come here to be asked to pay in this role".. Hes better right of centre.
REMEMBER THIS IS ROYS TACTICS!!
But you were there on Wednesday when he didn't take part in the shooting practice for the forwards, whats all that about!!

Just by looking at the stats on Wednesday night mistake to play him. We had 8 corners and needed some aerial threat. Overall stats were poor for Soton and even with the wrong attacking options on the pitch, one poor defensive play throughout the team, resulting in a soft goal, cost us 2 points.
