It was an enjoyable match - we sang we're gonna score in a minute for around twenty minutes after the final whistle. Off to Anfield next week. Hope to see some of you there. Don't think it will be 9-0. There were actually Liverpool fans outside the ground shaking our hands and praising us for the way Palace had kept on attacking. As though we had been in the team ourselves. Some said they had been willing the penalty to go in, rather than it ending up in tier 2, row 45. The blond Liverpool defender who didn’t play that night (mental block; I can’t remember his name; RoI international...) was spotted leaving the stadium and Palace fans taunted him, saying that he had no chance of getting back into the Liverpool team after that performance. Ah, the indefatigable spirit of the Palace fan!
Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes) |

Ah, the indefatigable spirit of the Palace fan! We went out on the beer with a load of them after & they were truly appreciative of the part we played in the game & amazed at our fans for not only sticking it out but singing until we were told to leave. I’m not sure I’ll ever fully get over it but the SF win helped massively.
Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five! |
