If it was anyone but Wilf he'd be getting slaughtered on here. Not sure how much credit you can give him for townsends wonder goal, or the penalty, where AWB crossed, townsend hit the post, and meyer got fouled. Seems to me he's just not enjoying playing. Hasnt really been the same since he had his little rant about being fouled so much. Needs to sort himself out because we bloody need him at his best.

Need everyone to put a shift in for the second part of the season - which historically is when we seem to do better COYP

Could it be that all Wilf needs is a goal
Zaha has some green grass in front of him here. Finds Ambrose |

Agree with what Neillo said earlier in this thread.. Wilf and Hazard get the same rough treatment.. Hazard gets more free kicks because if you notice he hardly complains... Wilf needs to keep a lid on his persistent complaining.. It's ok to complain but he does it so aggressively... When do you ever see Hazard acting aggressively?? Wilf has so much talent it's mental but I do feel his stats should be more promising. Edited by kennybrowns leftfoot (02 Jan 2019 1.51am) Edited by kennybrowns leftfoot (02 Jan 2019 1.52am)
Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!! |

Hazard also has a slew of other goal scoring threats on his team, Zaha has none. Other teams can't focus only on Hazard, whereas other teams can focus only on Zaha. If I was planning to defend Palace, I'd devote everything to covering Zaha, and frustrating him. Who else is a threat to score? No one, other than an odd fluke goal. Unfortunately, Roy makes this easier by playing Zaha out of his preferred wide position. At least when Zaha is out wide, even if he's marked all game long, he always gets 2-3 chances where he can make a long shot run at defenders. When he's playing in the middle, it's a complete waste, and he can't do anything because he has zero support.

Yes, hope Hodgson stop putting a square peg (Zaha) in a round hole (striker role) any more. Starting today at Molienux!

PvA got an assist for his horrendous shot finding Ayew in the box, yet Wilf gets nothing for earning a penalty. Tells me all I need to know about the most overrated stat of all.

I get that slowing your game down can create space and bring teammates into play, I also get that being told to play a hold up role as a target man may have stifled his natural lust to take risks, do tricks and take people on....however, i so so so preferred how he was playing in championship / early PL days. He's nowhere near as exciting now and this season, nowhere near as effective. Seems to just be a game of he fouled she fouled, it gets boring. You're faster than 98% of your opponents, just run past them for once and get a shot/early pass or two off!
