My point is, after 6 years in the prem, we should be looking at getting 40 points in record time each year, then whatever happens after that as a bonus.

That's all a club like palace can hope to aim for, breaking records each year. Example, first season in prem, get to 40 points with 2 games to spare, second season, 4 games to spare, 3rd, 5 games to spare and so forth. That to me is progress, shows we're adapting and getting better in the league and that alleviates stress, tension and worry of relegation.

The cups, top 8 finishes will then eventually follow.

That, is, an alternative way to say 'getting out of a relegation scrap as quickly as possible'.

We don't expect europe, but we do expect a decent season away from the relegation zone.
