Agreed :-(

The season so far has been an incomplete team limping through to January. We've put in some good performances here and there but this is pretty much the points total you'd expect from a team without a striker and very thin creative options. I've seen a lot of unproductive running around but nothing to convince me we'll ever go anywhere with the squad we have. Last summer, I had high hopes we'd invest in quality players to carry forward the momentum we ended last season on. But no ... we appear to have learnt nothing from previous seasons in the PL.

Lol. Literally. Benteke was abject for an entire season last year. Wickham hasn’t been fit for 2 years and may never fully come back. Sorloth is league one standard and couldn’t cut it in the Dutch top flight. Are those the 3? Ayew has turned out to be a poor, poor signing. He is also a number 10 or wide forward type, not a striker. Not buying a center forward was a massive error, and it was obvious before the benefit of hindsight. 1) Sure, doesn't mean he was automatically going to be bad again this season. We've all seen what he can do. They had every reason to believe he'd find some form again. 2) That's your opinion, firstly. But I'll accept that one...they took a punt and it doesn't look like it's going to work out. 3) Doctors had told them Wickham was due back this season. They had no way of knowing he was going to keep getting niggles. And just, Ayew hasn't been great. But again, 11 goals in a relegated team suggests he had something about him. Our owners can't predict the future.

True our owners can't predict the future but they seem incapable from learning from past mistakes.

Mistake - hiring a sexy young manager and change the style of football. Learning - hire a safe pair of hands in Roy. Mistake - try to scrape by with championship squad. Learning - splashing close to 30mil each on both Benteke and Sakho, plus supplementing them with other additions like Guita/Luka/Meyer etc. I really think people are being too hard on them.

I suppose looking at the situation now the squad is not as good as last season and the new players have not contributed as hoped for.

That’s because we do all our shopping at the breakers yard or in the bargain bin by the tills. It’s pot luck if they compliment or fit. No proper planning or scouting and a dof with no experience whatsoever. Oh and another ex player next to him advising him to sell Murray while we took on Patrick Bumfluff and then Adebayor 5 months later after not playing for however long.

Luka was a good signing, Meyer was a good signing on a free. We are just fine when signing defenders, and midfielders (most of the time with a defensive outlook). We took a ridiculous amount of time to get a keeper in but we signed a good goalie. Our issue is, and always has been, attacking midfielders, forwards, wingers and strikers. Think of all the dross we have signed from Sanogo to Adebayor, Bamford to Remy, Doyle to Sorloth. So much cr&p. Hoping that Benteke would magically turn his career around was reckless at best, and idiotic at worst. He didnt just have a run of form last season where things didnt quite work out for him, it was the entire season. He was awful, he missed chance after chance after chance. So we sit back and look at things and bring in Sorloth, who failed in the Dutch top flight, and Ayew who is a number 10/winger type. Unbalanced is an understatement. We have a lot of workman like players and only Zaha with any flair.
Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha. |
