There is a wider issue here. People who read tabloids stories expecting to find anything other than total garbage. On finding garbage they then complain about it. Solution. Stop reading tabloids and click bait tripe and resolve to read something more measured. Tabloids stories are written at the English level of a ten year old and indulge in petty sensationalist drivel. Who knew.

I’d never actually seen that story so I’m glad you shared it - I certainly don’t take issue with that being reported nor with him being criticised for it. You don’t care what they get up to, yet you knew enough to state that he behaves in an immature manor with disregard for money - bit of a contradiction. Of course I see how it can be abused, but that also doesn’t give them free reign to do whatever they want - as with most things, it’s a balance. It's hardly a contradiction. To clarify, I don't care if he's immature....a berk....or an angel....He owes me nothing and I him.....I was asked to find behaviour that could justify criticism I found it.....would I be a slimy journalist working for the gutter press?....not in a cold day in hell. However, I certainly don't think he deserves any protection from the press as a public figure on that kind of money.....but on the other hand I also defend his right to take them to court if they lie about him. Swings and roundabouts. Edited by Stirlingsays (13 Dec 2018 4.52pm)

Therefore it seems rather unreasonable to get too excited about some rather unflattering stores about anyone. More seriously, I am yet to be convinced by any evidence that Black players get a rougher ride than anyone else or that when they do get a rough ride, it is about 'racism' rather than selling newspapers by feeding off public perceptions. Please. Convince me with actual evidence.

I'm not sure that comparison you linked helps your argument. For a start it is only one example which doesn't prove the point at all and second, it really doesn't suggest racism or even matches in terms of the stories purpose. One is about a player buying a house for his Mum. (How nice of him). And the other is saying that a player who isn't even in the first team can afford to spend that much money. (Modern football has gone mad) Looking for racism is an obsession for some people. You would have been quite happy if the latter was about a White player no doubt. This player was also buying a house for his mum but it was never mentioned. Neither player has started a Premier League game but it was only mentioned in one of the articles. Sterling mentioned this in his statement.
