Southampton, who are often a club seen as doing it right and should be copied, have had 4 managers in the last 4 years Koeman, Puel, Pellegrino and Hughes, all inherited players.

They sacked Puel after they finished 8th in the league under him !
Pellegrino was sacked after 30 PL games with the club in 17th Place and now Hughes is also struggling.
At the end of the day if a club keeps selling their best players this catches up with them.

I believe Eddie Howe took over the managerial reins at the club in January 2009 but left in 2011 to manage Burnley which he did for about a year and three quarters before returning to Bournemouth in October 2012.He had a great start winning 9 of his first 12 league games.Shortly after he returned, Bournemouth beat Dag & Red 4-0 and playing for the Daggers that day was Dwight Gayle.Howe has done brilliantly for Bournemouth and I dare say bigger clubs will be casting eyes in his direction.

The Bournemouth fan in the office here said 2008 & showed me it was, indeed, 2008. Admittedly it was 31st December 2008 but it still counts

Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five!

My understanding is that Howe was caretaker for a couple of games before being appointed on a permanent basis in season 2008-9.In that season he signed Rhoys Wiggins on loan from us.

Two points from the big four is not bad. We need to kick on now. But it's hard to forget the points that got away. Ward's missed sitter at Watford (1pt). Benteke's miss from two yards v Southampton (1pt). Sakho's missed sitter v Newcastle (2pts). Luca's missed pen v Everton (at least 1pt). They were all sickening misses, and 3-4 points would have put is in mid-table. You can add Sorloth's chance to level v Spurs, and Townsend's chance to beat Manure - not sitters, but outstanding chances. I keep thinking chances like these will go in some day, but they never do.

Watford and Southampton have kept a relatively similar style of play so the players recruited by staff other than the manager fit. There is a focus on constant synergy. Ours is to try to not fill gaps in the squad, hope it goes okay, it doesn’t, costs us more, repeat, repeat, repeat. Only once we’re we prepared during the pre season and we stormed up to 5th before Christmas.

Parish should employ people to run football matters like Bournemouth and other successful clubs do, not put ourselves in danger and hope there are 3 shyte teams to save our &rses, as long as Wilf is available.
